Zone Continuity Offense - Wing Through Continuity
Zone Continuity Offenses

Playname: Wing Through Continuity

sketch
1
The Wing Through Continuity Offense is a simple offense to run vs. any even front (e.g. 2-3 or 2-1-2 zone).

As the point guard, #1, brings the ball upcourt, the other offensive players set up as shown in the diagram. #2 and #3 occupy each wing while #4 goes to the high post and #5 goes to the opposite low post.

#1 passes to #2 and follows the pass and goes behind. #2 passes to #1 and then cuts through to the short corner. #3 cuts to the top of the key.

As soon as #1 receives the ball, #4 goes to the basket behind #2, then quickly comes back to the ball. #1 should pass to #4 if open. #1's second passing option is to #3 at the top. #3 then looks to pass to #5 or #2.

In the previous sequence, if #5 isn't open in the lane, the pass goes to #2. When #2 receives the ball, he should dribble up to pull the defense with him. #5 posts up strong in the middle of the lane. #4 quickly cuts out to the short corner. #2 looks for #4 or #5 if open. #1 and #3 should interchange positions on the weak side, keeping the defense aware of them and also to become available for a possible skip pass from #2.

If #4 and #5 are not open, #2 reverses the ball to #1 at the top. #1 reverses again to #3 as #2 runs to the short corner. #3 passes to #2 and
#2 dribbles up to pull the defense. #5 flashes across the middle of the lane. #4 runs to the short corner. Here is where the offense continues.

Note: If #4 and #5 are not open on this reversal, #2 will pass back to #3 and cut through, continuing the offense as described.

Lob Option:

A lob option is created for #5. #1 receives the pass back from #2 and #2 cuts through the middle of the zone, instead of cutting behind the zone. #5 steps up the lane and then goes for the lob. #1 lobs the ball to #5.

In and Out Option:

A very good scoring option is created after #2 has cut through the zone several times. In this option, instead of cutting all the way through, #2 starts cutting through and then cuts back to the same corner. #1 passes to #2 for the shot. #1 also can pass to #4 who slides down the lane looking to post up. If #2 receives the pass from #1, he can also look inside to #4.
