Individual Defensive Drills

Drill Name: Rebound and React Drill

1

Purpose: This drill will work on areas for both the offensive player and the defensive player. For the offense, the purpose is to 1) improve the shot, and 2) improve one-on-one skills. For the defense, the purpose is improving 1) defensive rebounding and outlet skills, 2) ability to react to an offensive player receiving a pass, and 3) on-the-ball defense.

Drill: The offensive player shoots the basketball. Defensive player ^1 rebounds the shot, passes the ball back out to the offensive player and proceeds to play one-on-one. (The defensive player should work on 'closing out' to the offensive player so as not to get beat easily to the hoop). Be sure to work on both sides of the court.
