Offensive Drills

No Foul, No Jump Ball Drill

Purpose: To teach the players to be strong and to make strong moves around the basket area while being fouled in a competitive situation.

Drill: Players of about equal size pair up at a basket.  They play 1-on-1 under the basket, keeping the ball in the shaded area as shown.  There are no fouls or jump balls in this drill.  The first player to reach 10 baskets wins.

Coaching Points:  The coach must make sure the players do not get carried away and use excessive physical contact.  The point is to foul the offensive player such as happens in games (players must be strong and always try to score -- don't assume you will get a foul called).  The number of points it takes to win can also vary, depending upon the amount of time you want to allot for this drill.
