2 Corner Set
| |
1)
The '2 Corner Set' is designed to get a quick shot, especially in the clutch. The opening set begins with #1 at the point, #2 and #3 in the corners, and #4 and #5 stacked side-by-side at the free throw line.
2)
#2 starts the play by making a straight line cut towards the top, but then cutting quickly backdoor. #2 can stop and post up on the block for a pass from #1 who is dribbling hard to the wing.
If #2 does not post up, he will cut hard off of a double screen being set by #4 and #5. If either #4 or #5's defender steps high to help on #2, that player will then cut hard to the basket for a pass and layup.
3)
#1 looks first for #2 for a three-point shot off the double screen (option 1). If that is not available, #1 will look to penetrate to the basket and shoot, dump to #4 (option 2), or skip across to #3 (option 3).
4)
If this is a last second play, all players should look to crash the boards, especially on the longer shot that may be taken by #2, #3 or #1. (in this diagram, #3 is taking the shot).
If it is not a last second play, #2 should stay high to be a possible defensive help.
